How we protect your information

Last updated November 1, 2026. The short version: your scan is yours. We use it only to make your explanation, we never sell it, and we delete it when you ask.

The short version

About HIPAA

HIPAA is a U.S. law that covers doctors, hospitals, and health insurance plans. MyScanGuide is not a doctor, hospital, or health plan, and you send us your images yourself, so HIPAA may not apply to us. We still protect your information using the same kinds of safeguards HIPAA asks for: encryption, limited access, records of who looked at what, and removing names before analysis. We also follow the Federal Trade Commission’s rules for health information, including telling you if your information is ever exposed in a breach.

What we collect

How we use it

We do not use your images to train AI tools, and we do not share them with anyone for research, unless you give us separate written permission.

How we keep it safe

Who we share it with

We only use a few service companies to run the site: Cloudflare (website, storage and e-mail delivery) and Stripe (card payments). They may only use your information to provide their service to us. We may share information if the law requires it, for example a court order. That’s all.

How long we keep it

We keep your files and results so you can come back to them, until you ask us to delete them. If your account is not used for 2 years, we may delete it. Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires.

Your choices and rights

Children

You must be 18 or older to use MyScanGuide. A parent or guardian may send a child’s scan on the child’s behalf.
